You Can't Step Out in Faith if You're Sunk Down in Fear

Jul 19, 2026    Noah Tyler

Fear can leave you stuck. ashamed, and afraid to take the next step. But in Mark 5:21-43, Jesus shows us that fear does not have to control our future. You can't step out in faith while staying sunk down in fear.

In this message from Westmark Church's "In Good Company" sermon series, Pastor Noah explores the stories of Jairus and the woman who had suffered for twelve years. One respected and powerful, the other rejected and ashamed. Yet both were helpless, desperate, and in need of Jesus.

Through their stories, we discover that Jesus is not afraid of our broken. When the suffering woman touched him, her uncleanness did not make Jesus dirty-- His cleanness made her clear. When Jairus received the worst news imaginable, Jesus told him, "Do not be afraid; just believe."

This Christian sermon will help you understand:

- How fear keeps us isolated and spiritually sick

- Why you are never too broken, dirty, or ashamed for Jesus

- What it means to trust Jesus with your pain and brokenness

- How faith responds when circumstances feel hopeless

- Why Jesus has power over sickness, shame, suffering, and death

Whatever fear you are carrying today, you are not the only one struggling. You are in good company. Jesus welcomes fearful, hurting, and broken people-- and he has the power to make them whole.

He can, and he will, when it's best.
