Pray For Who You Are, What To Do, Where To Go

Jul 12, 2026    Noah Tyler

Most of us have said it before: "I was going to..."

So much regret can be tied up in those words.

I was going to lose weight.

I was going to fix it.

I was going to forgive them.

I was going to quit that.

I was going to finish that.

No one plans to live an "I was going to" life, but many people end up drifting into one.

In this message from 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12, Pastor Noah Tyler, Lead Pastor of Westmark Church continues the Praying Like Paul series by looking at how Paul prayed for believers to become who God called them to be, to do what God placed before them, and to live for the glory of Jesus.

Paul's secret is not to just try harder. Paul actually prays that God would make these Christians worthy of their calling as Christians, that God would empower their good desires and faith-moments, and that God would aim their lives toward the glory of Christ.

It turns out that trying harder had nothing to do with it, but just asking God to intervene.

If you feel stuck between good intentions and real obedience, this message is. call to stop simply feeling regret. It's a call to make sure you don't end up with an "I was going to" kind of life.

Instead, pray.

Pray to be who you're supposed to be.

Pray to do what you're supposed to do.

Pray to go where you're supposed to go.
